"Sunny Cat"

7 x 9" oil/ canvas mounted on hardwood panel

sold

Here is another painting of our cat LuLu. I was looking through a bunch of reference photos this morning and had them spread all over the floor. She came up and rolled all over the top of them as if to say, "Look at me. I'M pretty!"
So well, here she is. The subject is wonderful, and the composition has the same nice flow as the last one.
This painting was challenging because I wasn't sure if the shadows would work well. She is actually laying half in the sun and half out. So there are these strong cast shadows then the softer transition shadows going from sun to shade. I think I got it right.

Black Labs

8 x 8" oil/canvas panel

sold

Many people have commented on my paintings of "Bill" our Border Collie. And recently someone asked if I would do one of a Black Lab. So I did two!
This first one is a generic version that I did from several reference photos. I love how the eyes came out square and slightly out of proportion. I think it gives him the sincerity that Labs have.

8 x 8"   oil/canvas panel

sold

This second Black Lab is "Rosie Girl." Who happens to live in New York City! I tried to give her some rosie qualities like the pink highlights to match her collar. Thanks so much Ronny, for letting me capture your Rosie on canvas!

"Lazy Bones"

7 x 9"  oil/canvas panel

sold

Another painting of my horse "Bones." I like this pose much better than the last one. I didn't have to deal with any foreshortening of the legs. I love the name on this one, too. I suppose it was just a matter of time before that one came up!

"Blue Collar Man"

8 x 8" oil/canvas mounted on masonite.

sold

Although the dominant hue for this painting is obviously orange, I named it "Blue Collar Man" because Bill is as blue as it gets. Cerulean, Ultramarine and touches of Diox Purple and Sap Green. This painting was lots of fun to do. It literally fell off the brush. The best kind.
I was going to keep this painting for a future exhibition, but a very nice lady from Virginia talked me into selling it to her. Thank you Liz!
