I love strong contrasts and I guess it shows in this painting.
I did this sketch today, to work out some color strategies for a larger painting.
Figures in full sun are challenging to say the least. The shadows have so much refective light. With this in mind, I think its important to mix your own black. Never out of a tube. That way you can bend the the shadows, warmer or cooler, as you go along.
