Beary Pickin' 30 x 36" oil/linen
Finishing this painting has taken awhile.
I actually put this piece away for a year or so, trying to decide how to proceed with the foliage. At the time it seemed like a fairly daunting task. I'm not a lazy artist, but...all those leaves...whew! I wanted chokecherry bushes, like the huge patches that grew near my childhood home. So I took this summer to study their grown patterns; actually cutting some large branches to bring into the studio. In the end, I think it was worth the extra time it took to get it right.
